BOONE COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS) — For five days, roughly 20 people who live along Lick Creek Branch Road in the Van area of Boone County were cut off from the rest of the world. The culvert and only road leading into the community was destroyed by high water during the August floods. Since then, a temporary access road has has been put in, but the concern now from neighbors is that their access out will be based on the ebb and flow of the creek that the road now dips into.

Boone Memorial Hospital in Boone County, West Virginia, has received additional funding for its new wellness center that is being built to improve healthcare services for residents of Boone, Lincoln, Logan, and Kanawha counties. MORRISVALE – The Morrisvale Volunteer Fire Department has led the way on a groundbreaking project certifying moving streams (creeks and rivers) as recognized water sources for firefighting. Morrisvale, Van, Wharton and Whitesville’s are Boone County’s fire departments to currently obtain certified streams.
