BLUEFIELD, WV (WVNS) — The Charleston Ballet will be visiting the Bluefield Arts & Revitalization Corporation (BARC), bringing their performance of Breaking Boundaries to the Granada Theater.

The performance will take place on May 5, 2024 at 2:30 p.m. with tickets on sale for $20 for adults and $5 for students aged 17 and under.

Rob Linkous, President of BARC, expressed excitement in bringing the classical, contemporary, and modern dance program to Bluefield.

BARC is honored to bring the Charleston Ballet to the Granada Theater, providing an opportunity for Mercer County residents to experience professional dance at its finest. We particularly want young people to be able to attend and have kept ticket prices affordable, at only $5 for students.

    Rob Linkous | BARC President

The Charleston Ballet was founded by Andre Van Damme, a successful former dancer in Belgium’s Royal Opera, in 1956. Van Damme’s goal was to allow West Virginia dancers to gain experience in-state while generating a wider appreciation for ballet as an art form.

Nearly seven decades later, the Charleston Ballet continues to enjoy a reputation of strong artistic integrity and performance professionalism.

BARC is a non-profit organization that owns the Granada Theater and Raleigh Street Cinemas, and also manages the Paine Gallery and its rotating exhibits in the Bluefield Arts Center. These spaces are available to rent for private events by calling Tim Smith at 304.887.2378. More information about BARC, visit https://www.barcwv.org/ .
