A serious three-vehicle collision occurred on Friday in the westbound lanes of Interstate 70 near mile marker 97, as reported by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The crash happened when a 2018 Buick Enclave, driven by 53-year-old Jason Baker from Blue Springs, was stationary. A 2005 Freightliner 114SD, driven by 52-year-old James Salis from Hillard, Florida, attempted to avoid the Buick but rear-ended it. The Freightliner overturned and ended up in the median. A 2023 Kia Telluride, driven by 38-year-old Katie Myers from St. Charles, was also mentioned in the report, but its exact involvement wasn’t detailed.

James Salis sustained serious injuries and was transported to University Hospital. Christine Hudson, a 67-year-old passenger in the Kia, received moderate injuries and was also taken to the same hospital. The report noted that everyone involved was wearing seatbelts and that all three vehicles were totaled.
