It was a very scary situation that unfolded in the blink of an eye on Sunday afternoon in the town of Ellsworth, Maine. According to WGME 13, an Ellsworth police officer was traveling down the road on Sunday afternoon when he reportedly noticed a speeding vehicle coming the other way. The officer didn't want to waste any time in catching up to the alleged speeder, so he pulled into the breakdown lane and prepared to do a U-turn to catch up to the vehicle, the news station said.

A large tree was uprooted in the storm, fell on Phillips' vehicle and brought down powerlines. This resulting accident led to his death. Due to the extensive injuries and the danger from the powerlines, rescuers had to wait until the power was cut off to remove him from the scene. Sadly, he passed away at the hospital later on.

The tree limb brought down live power lines, and utility workers had to cut power before the man could be removed, said Police Chief Brian Lunt. The man died later at a hospital, Lunt said. The man's identity hasn't been released.

(Rangeley) An officer involved shooting Wednesday resulted in the death of a man wanted for violation of bail conditions. Public Information Officer Shannon Moss reports to Star 97.7, 28 yo Shay McKenna was seen carrying a firearm he was prohibited from possessing after he was accused of killing his brother in Rumford. McKenna also failed to show for a court date earlier this week. That led to an investigation, with detectives locating McKenna in Rangeley Plantation. A Maine State Police Crisis Negotiation Team advised McKenna he was under arrest. McKenna then reportedly exited a van in which he was hiding with a rifle and a ballistic vest, got into a confrontation with and was shot by Trooper Jeffrey Parks. McKenna died at the scene. Parks is on Administrative Leave per standard protocol.
