Blounts Creek fireman injured in ATV crash

BLOUNTS CREEK, N.C. (WNCT) — A firefighter with the Blounts Creek Volunteer Fire Department was involved in an ATV rollover crash Monday morning.

The Blounts Creek Volunteer Fire Department posted to its Facebook page that the unnamed firefighter was suffering serious injuries after the ATV he was riding overturned off a bulkhead onto large rocks next to the water. Crews responded to the scent at 10:49 a.m.

Fire and EMS crews eventually removed the patient and began an EMS transport. It was determined that due to his injuries, assistance would be needed from ECU Health EastCare to transport him faster. The firefighter was loaded onto the helicopter when it arrived. He was then taken to ECU Health in Greenville.

Monday night, officials said the firefighter’s injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
