Plenty of competition was featured at the Awarii Dunes Classic that took place on May 9 with 18 teams taking part in the action. The Whippets finished five strokes away from placing in the top five as a team with a stroke score of 335. Kearney Catholic and Holdrege tied for first place with 321.
Minden Trap Team Competes at the Cornhusker Nationals Trapshoot
Minden Trap Team competed at three days of in- tense shooting at the Cornhusker Nationals Trapshoot in Doniphan, Nebraska on May 2nd-4th. The Cornhusker brought in 2,430 shooters from across the state and nation. The 2,430 shooters were broken out into the Junior High and Senior High divisions and there were 892 Junior High shooters and 1,538 Senior High shooters. The Junior High shooters shot 100 targets from the 16 yardline. The Senior High shooters shot 75 targets from the 16 yardline and 75 targets from their assigned handicap yardline. The Cornhusker saw all types of weather this year with two mornings starting with rain, overcast middays and windy afternoons that ended up being sunny. The kids worked through it all and shot well!

New Officers and Directors Announced for the Nebraska Auctioneers Association
(Aurora, Nebraska) Rusty Rhynalds of Rhynalds Auction & Realty, LLC, Minden, NE, has been elected President of the Nebraska Auctioneers Association for 2024-2025. Rhynalds was born and raised in Minden, NE, and he is a first-generation auctioneer. He attended World Wide College of Auctioneering in Mason City, Iowa, in June of 2001 while still in high school. He immediately started working all the auctions he could for auction companies in Nebraska and Kansas. He conducted his first consignment auction in Oct. 2001. Rusty started competing in auctioneer contests immediately and was the 2002 Nebraska Rookie of the Year, 2005 Kansas State Champion Auctioneer, 2005 Pacific Open Division Champion, 2006 Nebraska State Champion Auctioneer, a multi-time finalist in the National Auctioneers Association International Auctioneer’s Contest (IAC).
Spot shower possible over next couple days, yet most stay dry
Two more tornadoes of EF-0 rating were confirmed in Nebraska from Monday’s round of severe weather. The first one that happened in the afternoon was on the ground for about 10 minutes near Cowles. This tornado was hard to see as it was within heavy rain as it overturned a camper and damaged some older outbuildings.
