    IHSAA softball draws for Bloomington, Martinsville and Bedford area teams

    The IHSAA announced its sectional pairings for softball on Sunday, so here's a look at how the Bloomington Herald-Times area teams will matchup when play begins the week of May 20-25.

    Host schools will announce playing schedules which will then be added to the online brackets at MaxPreps.com the week before the tournament begins. A complete list of pairings is available at IHSAA.org.

    Class 4A: Center Grove Sectional

    Sectional 13 will open with Bloomington South (7-6) taking on Greenwood (9-5) in the upper bracket. They are not on each other's schedules this year. The winner gets No. 8 Center Grove (11-6), which beat the Panthers 10-0 on April 15.

    Bloomington North (4-12) gets a bye in the bottom bracket and will await the winner between No. 4 Mooresville (14-2) and Martinsville (5-12). The Cougars play the Pioneers on Monday and dropped a 5-4 decision to the Artesians on April 12.

    Regional: Winner plays at Columbus East Sectional champion.

    Class 4A: New Albany Sectional

    Bedford North Lawrence (9-9-1) is handed defending champ and No. 7 Floyd Central (19-3), which ended a six-year drought last year. The Highlanders rolled by the Stars 16-4 and their only losses to Indiana teams are Tri-West Hendricks and Carmel. The winner will face off against Jennings County (8-8).

    The bottom half of the bracket has New Albany playing Seymour with the winner playing Jeffersonville (9-7).

    Regional: Winner plays at Evansville North Sectional champion.

    Class 3A: Owen Valley Sectional

    Long road to a another sectional title ahead for defending champ Edgewood (9-5-1), which gets Northview (5-8) in the lone opening game. Those two will meet for their WIC game on Wednesday at Brazil. The winner advances to play West Vigo (10-6), a team the Mustangs just beat 1-0.

    Owen Valley (5-5) drew Indian Creek (8-5) in the other semi in the upper bracket. Their WIC game is May 8.

    Regional: Winner plays host to the Lebanon Sectional champion.

    Class 2A: South Knox Sectional

    Eastern Greene (4-7) gets North Knox (5-4) in the upper bracket. They have not met yet with their early April game rained out. The winner gets Mitchell (6-8) in the semifinals.

    Sullivan (14-4) is the strong favorite and the only other team here with a winning record at the moment. The Arrows get South Knox (5-5) with Linton (4-6) getting the bye.

    Class 2A: Providence Sectional

    No team here is close to .500 so far. Struggling Paoli (0-12) is in the bottom part of the bracket and will take on Clarksville (3-9), which started the year 1-7. The winner will get Eastern (Pekin) (2-6).

    Austin (2-10) and Crawford County (1-11) will battle to face the host Pioneers (5-8) in the semis.

    Regional: Winner plays host to Milan Sectional champion.

    Class 1A: North Daviess Sectional

    Loogootee (4-10) drew the bye and waits for the winner between Shoals (1-9) and North Daviess (10-6). They will tangle on May 1 in a preview.

    Orleans (7-5) vs. two-time defending champ No. 5 Barr-Reeve (5-4) is the other semifinal. They will meet on May 4.

    Regional: Winner plays at Northeast DuBois Sectional champion.

    Class 1A: Northeast Dubois Sectional

    Springs Valley (6-5) and the host Jeeps (7-4) avoid No. 2 powerhouse Tecumseh for the time being, meeting in the upper bracket semifinal. Wood Memorial (1-6) draws Tecumseh (9-7) with the winner advancing to face Cannelton.

    Regional: Winner plays host to North Daviess Sectional champion.

    Class 1A: Indiana Deaf Sectional

    Just a four-teamer here. Heavy favorite Eminence (9-0) gets a rematch with Bethesda Christian (5-8) after beating them 11-3 on April 24. The other semi has Providence Cristo Rey vs. Indiana Deaf (5-4). The Eels dispatched the Deaf Hoosiers 14-0 on April 16.

    Regional: Winner plays host to White River Valley Sectional champion.
