BLACKFOOT — The Bingham County Senior Citizens Center is celebrating its 55th anniversary with a party on Wednesday, May 1.

Pam Beus, executive director at the senior center, said the center is celebrating 55 years of being in business during a party that will feature live music, food and a raffle. Lunch will start at 11 a.m. and the raffle will start at 12:30 p.m.

”Everyone is invited,” she said. “Come help us celebrate.”

Beus said around 60 businesses throughout Blackfoot have donated the prizes that will be raffled off. The prizes include several gift cards and gift baskets.

”Just about everyone is in on it,” she said.

Beus said the senior center made certificates for all the businesses who contributed prizes that it will display in its windows for the month of May. She said the certificates will recognize the businesses as senior-friendly businesses in honor of Senior Awareness Month in May.

”We’re going to ask them to help us celebrate by having discounts and special days for seniors throughout the month of May,” she said.

Beus said she is happy that the senior center has made it to its 55th anniversary. She expressed gratitude for the community for the support it has given during that time.

”It’s awesome,” she said. “We’re still going strong.”

Beus said raffle tickets can be purchased for $1 each or six for $5. The Bingham County Senior Citizens Center is located at 20 Pacific Street in Blackfoot.
