BISMARCK, N.D. — The 2023-24 season was filled with records for University of Mary women’s basketball team. A year that concluded with the Marauders making their first NSIC Tournament championship appearance.

A key piece to this successful season was graduate student Lexie Schneider. Schneider, who returned after suffering a season-ending injury before the start of last season, filled the record books. She became the second player in program history to be named the NSIC Player of the Year, while setting the record for the most Player of the Week recognitions in a single season with six.

Schneider says that his year was the best way for her career to come to a close.

“It’s as close to perfect as I know for this season,” she says. “We’ve had a lot of records. Obviously, we would’ve liked to go to the national tournament, but I think even in that championship game, losing to the national champion, is something that shouldn’t be taken lightly for us. We just proved how good our league was and good our team actually was. We could’ve had a chance at playing in the national tournament, and should have. It went as good as it could have and I’m excited to end on something record breaking and special.”

Schneider plans on starting her professional career in marketing and social media after graduation on Saturday.
