BEVERLY — Playing a group of road games in a row can be a bit draining to some teams, but it can make the victories so much sweeter.

After a road stretch that began last week and included four games in six days, the Trimble baseball team was able to grab a nice victory as they defeated Fort Frye 6-3.

The Tomcats came from behind to snatch the victory, putting together a four-run seventh inning to emerge victorious after falling behind in the fifth inning.

Trimble (7-4) amassed 10 hits on the day, with Bradley Cahoe and Bennie Warren leading the way with a 3-4 day at the plate from both players. Warren knocked in four RBIs and scored a run, while Cahoe scored three runs while also notching an RBI. Marcus Cable added two hits, while Paul Sharp and Aiden Dixon each added hits of their own.

Warren also drew the start for Trimble, tossing three and one thirds innings while allowing just two hits and one run while striking out four batters. Hunter Bycofski took over for two and two thirds innings of relief, giving up two hits and two runs while also striking out four. Sharp then took over for the final inning, getting a quick three outs while allowing just one hit and grabbing two strikeouts.

Fort Frye had less success at the dish, only reaching half of the Tomcat’s hitting output with five hits on the day. Despite his team’s struggles, Tyce Beardsley had no issues from the leadoff spot with a perfect 4-4 day along with scoring two runs. Carter Brown got the Cadets’ only other hit of the day while also notching two RBIs.

Ty Worthington nearly pitched a complete game for Fort Frye, tossing six and two thirds innings while allowing six hits and four runs. He also struck out 11 Tomcat batters. Brown then came in to register the final out, but allowed four hits and two runs of his own.

Both teams got on the board early in the first, with the Tomcats scoring off a Warren single before the Cadets tied it up with a sacrifice fly from Worthington.

Another RBI single from Warren in the fourth inning would give the Tomcats a 2-1 lead, but a two-run double from Brown just an inning later gave the Cadets their first lead of the game in the bottom of the fifth.

After picking up a quick two outs in the top of the seventh inning, Trimble found themselves with their backs against the wall. However, an RBI single from Cahoe tied the game at three before Warren’s third hit of the day scored two more runners to make it 5-3. A run-scoring double from Dixon later in the inning put the cap on the Tomcats’ two-out rally, now leading 6-3.

Fort Frye threatened with runners on in the bottom of the seventh, but two quick strikeouts from Sharp before a pop out to center cemented the Tomcats 6-3 victory after their seventh inning rally.
