Police plan roving DUI patrols and checkpoints during Memorial Day Weekend
Throughout the holiday weekend, PSP Montoursville and PSP Selinsgrove will conduct roving DUI patrols and set up at least one DUI checkpoint. The checkpoint(s) will target high DUI-related crash areas based on compiled statistical data. PSP will also be on alert for seat belt violations. Make sure to wear a seat belt both for your own safety and to avoid being ticketed. In Union County, the North Central Highway Safety Network will have sheriff deputies and municipal police conduct DUI checkpoints on Route 45. Police also will be enforcing seat belt laws. PSP also wish to remind motorists of the "Duty of Driver in Emergency Response Areas" law. This law requires motorists to move to an open lane and/or reduce their driving speed when they see police stopped along a roadway with their emergency lights on, or other emergency vehicles with their lights activated.
