Orem man charged with pointing gun at officers, calling them 'cowards'
OREM — An Orem man wanted by police for absconding is facing new charges accusing him of pointing a gun at officers who went to his house to arrest him. Robin Blaze Thurber, 67, was charged Friday in 4th District Court with four counts of assault on a police officer and possession of a gun by a restricted person, second-degree felonies; and interfering with police, marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia, class B misdemeanors.

Cause of Wednesday’s Provo Canyon fire unknown
PROVO, Utah — An investigation is underway into the cause of a fire that started near the mouth of Provo Canyon on Wednesday night. According to Provo Fire and Rescue Capt. Jeanie Atherton the Provo Canyon fire started around 11 p.m. The fire burned on the northbound side of Interstate 189 where Canyon Road merges with University Avenue.
