PARKERSBURG — Blennerhassett Elementary School is drumming up some enthusiasm this week with a special physical education program for students. School nurse Sabrina Anderson and physical education teacher Trish Sanders teamed up to bring the POUND: Rockout Workout class to the school. POUND is a cardio exercise program using specially weighted drumsticks called Ripstix. Rachel Burnham, with Rockstar Wellness in Marietta, led students in Generation POUND, a modified program designed for children ages 6-12. Burnham said the kids’ workout emphasizes shorter duration exercises combined with games and fun activities.
