ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — Beloit College’s Candis Damste just continues to tear up the competition, no matter how tough it is or how big of a meet she attends.

The senior won the 400-meter dash at the Augustana Meet of Champions with a time of 59.67 seconds and was eighth in the 200, finishing in 25.70, to help the Bucs’ women score 18.50 points and place 13th out of 24 teams at Augustana University.

Beloit’s men placed 12th with 32 points as the University of Washington in St. Louis swept the titles with 196.50 points on the women’s side and 127 on the men’s.

Alayna Furch added a strong finish for the Bucs’ women as she was 11th in the 400 (1:02.89).

In the field, Clinton graduate Elizabeth Kalk placed seventh in the high jump (4-feet, 9.75-inches) and was 12th in the long jump (15-6.75).

Naomee Casey placed 12th in the pole vault (10-3.5) and juniors Katherine Kronberger and Hadja Bayo finished 14-15 in the shot put with throws of 33-4.5-inches and 33-3.5-inches, respectively.

On the men’s side, it was a great Saturday for Kevon Mills, who was sixth in the long jump (20-6.5) and 10th in the high jump (5-10.5). Diontia Charles placed fifth in the high jump (6-0.5).

Freshman Josh Martinez Marte, a Beloit Memorial graduate, had a fifth-place finish in the shot put (45-9) while Caden Anderson ended third in the javelin (155-4).
