ORTONVILLE, Minn.–The Big Stone County Sheriff’s Office says a man is in jail after threatening a woman with a gun. Sheriff Mark Brown says officers got a report at 5:34 am Sunday of a man with a firearm chasing a woman in the 200-block of Michigan Avenue in Ortonville.

Ortonville — During the regular Monday night meeting, the Ortonville village council voted unanimously on their yearly committee assignments. As village president, Ken Quisneberry is the council representative for the Ortonville Downtown Development Authority. He is also a member of the personnel committee. President Pro Tempore Melanie Nivelt remains as the liaison for the Ortonville planning commission, and is also a member of the personnel committee. Council member Linda Brooks was appointed to the parks and recreation committee. Kay Green was appointed to the personnel committee. Larry Hayden remains on the streets committee, and volunteered to be the representative for the South East Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG) as well. Tony Randazzo was appointed to the IT committee, and village manger Ryan Madis is the council representative for the sewers subcommittee.

Bulldog Hoopsters Advance in Region Playoffs
The Bulldogs took down Sisseton in the first round of the Region 1A quarterfinals on Tuesday, February 27, in Milbank. The Bulldogs scored 57 points and allowed Sisseton only 32. WHAT WE'RE TRACKING: An ALERT DAY is in the forecast overnight as temperatures drop dramatically by more than 50 degrees by morning. Rain will change to snow overnight, and wet roads will become icy by Wednesday morning. There is also the possibility of light snow accumulation up to an inch by early Wednesday morning. Wednesday will be much colder, but another round of unseasonably mild weather is likely by next weekend, with near-record warmth possible again from Saturday through Monday of next week. Scattered rain showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected Sunday night and Monday followed by cooler weather for the rest of next week, although temperatures will still be above normal.

Students and Piano Teachers Play in 33rd Annual Piano Festival
The 33rd Annual Piano Festival was held at MHS on Sunday, February 25. The festival, sponsored by the Milbank Area Piano Teachers, is designed to showcase the talents of young musicians and encourage them in their studies. Students of Kristi Seehafer, Deb Rausch, Renae Wollschlager, and Sheila Dailie performed. Dailie, Wollschlager, and Susan Karels, who is also a music instructor, presented two trios to inspire pianists to play together.
Lady Bulldogs Leave it all on the Court in Final Game at Regions
