Man accused of escaping custody arrested in Belfast
A two day search for a man accused of escaping custody ended with the arrest of Robert Porter Saturday night.
According to the Waldo County Sheriff's Office, deputies received a tip indicating Porter, 39, was at a residence off Swan Lake Avenue in Belfast around 9 p.m.
"Personnel from the Sheriff’s Office and Belfast Police Department responded to the residence where they located and arrested Robert Porter. He has been returned to custody without incident," Sheriff Jason Trundy said in a statement.
Porter was first arrested Thursday for violating his probation.
Saturday, he was moved from Waldo County Correctional Center to a hospital for treatment of an ongoing medical issue.
Porter is accused of running from the hospital and police custody before being located.
