A spokesperson released a statement Thursday on behalf of the district which reads, in part:

The student and family in this situation did exactly what we encourage: If you see something, say something. They promptly notified the school and authorities about the coach’s behavior so it could be investigated and addressed. The coach resigned from his position shortly after the incident.

We remain committed to fostering a safe, respectful and positive environment for all students.

The district urges anyone who sees something “concerning” to report it to a trusted adult or school administrators, or via the Safe Schools Helpline at 800-418-6423 ext. 359.
