Causeacon brings in nerds far and wide to Raleigh County

BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) – Lines of cosplayers and con-goers waited outside of the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center, eager for the doors to open.

Causeacon is a growing event that brings in visitors from all around the state and beyond to Raleigh County.

Event organizer Desiree Christian said the location and popularity of Causeacon helps bring likeminded individuals to one area.

“The convention gets the whole community involved. It’s just a big nerd fest, nerds are a great thing nowadays. Being a nerd is celebrated so it’s just a fun thing to come hang out,” said Christian.

The vendor area opened 30 minutes early for VIP ticket holders. Everything from collectors’ items to handcrafted jewelry line the booths.

Some vendors not only sold items but enjoy the activities and fellow sellers themselves.

Vendor and visitor Sadie Lane loved seeing all the creative cosplays and costumes patrons put together for conventions such as this.

“Every year the convention has been a blast, I have been here as a patron and a vendor. This is my third year being a vendor. It’s not only great for the vendors to set up but it gives patrons a chance to come up and show off their creativity,” said Lane.

The convention started on April 26th and ends on April 28th. Karaoke, trivia and info panels are all part of the fun.
