Times' Top Performances from last week: April 15-21

Every Monday, the Beaver County Times will recognize both individual athletes and teams for their impressive performances that took place in the last week of high school sports action. Here are the standout efforts from the week of April 15-21.

BASEBALL

Brock Budacki, New Brighton

Budacki put together yet another masterful week at the plate as the junior went 2-2 with one RBI in the team’s 15-0 win over Neshannock. Then on Tuesday, Budacki continued his hot week at the plate as he went 4-5 hitting for the cycle while driving in seven runs in the Lions 19-2 victory over Northgate.

Ty Butler, Beaver Area

Butler was solid over the course of two games this past week for the Bobcats as he collected two hits driving home one run in the team’s loss to Central Valley on Monday. Following the loss to the Warriors on Monday, Butler and Beaver Area bounced back as he collected two more hits driving home one runner in the team’s 9-6 win over Central Valley.

Andrew Cross, Moon Area

Cross went perfect 2-2 at the plate last Monday driving in two runners in the team’s 14-7 loss to North Hills

Oscar Roig, Quaker Valley

Roig was dominant at plate in the Quakers game against Shenango as he went 4-5 in the team’s 21-12 loss to the Wildcats.

Vann Kavals, OLSH

Kavals was domaint this week for the Chargers as he collected two hits along with three RBIs in the team’s 10-3n win over South Side Beaver. Then on Saturday, the junior recorded two more hits while driving home a run in the team’s win over Washington.

Gino Williams, OLSH

Williams was a force at the top of the lineup on Saturday for the Chargers as he went 2-2 with three RBIs in the team’s victory over the Prexies.

Hunter Garvin, Riverside

Garvin put together another solid week at the plate as on Wednesday he recorded a hit along with driving home three RBIs in the team’s blowout victory over Beaver Falls. Then on Thursday, he registered yet another hit another hit while driving home another run in the team’s 15-0 win over the Tigers.

SOFTBALL

Maddie Spirnak, Central Valley

Spirnak was domaint for the Warriors on Monday as she went 3-3 while driving home two RBIs in the team’s 6-4 loss to Ellwood City on Monday. Then on Tuesday, Spirnak recorded two of her team’s four hits while driving in one run in the team’s 4-1 victory over Beaver Falls.

Emma Weaver, Central Valley

After allowing three runs on three hits while striking out eight on Monday, Weaver put together a clean two and two thirds innings on Tuesday against Beaver Falls as she struck out six in the team’s 4-1 victory over the Tigers.

Cali Legzdin, Beaver Falls

Legzdin was domaint in the loss to Central Valley as she went a complete game allowing three runs on just one free pass while striking out 11.

Morgan O’Brien, OLSH

O’Brien strung together a number of solid lines throughout the week as on Tuesday, she collected two hits and four RBIs while also hitting a game tying three run home run in the seventh inning. Then on Wednesday, O’Brien drove in two runs while recording one hit in the team’s 12-2 victory over Beth Center.

Zoe Linder, Blackhawk

Linder cracked a three run home run while driving in five runs in the team’s 7-6 loss to Montour. Then in the team’s win over North Catholic on Thursday, Linder recorded a single and a double in the Cougars 5-4 win over the Trojans.

Sami Springman, Beaver Area

Springman smoked a home run while collecting two hits and drove in three runners in the team’s 12-2 win over Montour.

Karis Dunham, South Side Beaver

Dunham put together a solid performance for South Side Beaver as she went 2-4 with four runs driven home in the team’s 14-0 win over Carlynton.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Mia Piocqudio , Blackhawk

Piocqudio was stellar for the Cougars in their dominant victory over Seton LaSalle as the senior led the charge for Blackhawk as she contributed nine goals in the team’s 23-5 victory of the Rebels.
