Monroeville man admits raising dogs for fighting; 38 dogs seized in raid
MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - A Monroeville man pleaded guilty Friday to federal charges related to dogfighting, admitting that he raised and sold pit bulls. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office raided a property last summer and arrested Gecoby Penn. Federal prosecutors later picked up the case and charged him with 17 counts of knowing possession a dog for the purposes of having the dog participate in an animal fighting venture.

McKenzie track makes school history
For the first time in school history, McKenzie School will be represented in the state finals for Track and Field. Jah’Marren Jackson finished first in long jump and fourth in the 400 while Charisa Bullard finished second in the long jump at the district meet. Both students will travel to Cullman on May 3-4.
