Luxury apartments open at Moorestown Mall site
A long-awaited apartment complex has opened at Moorestown Mall even as construction continues on more homes. The Pearl Apartments is welcoming the first tenants for approximately 85 leased units at what's to ultimately be a 375-home complex in a former parking lot between a Boscov's store and Nixon Drive. "We are standing at the beginning of a new community," Thomas Leonard III, chairman of the project's developer, Bel Canto Asset Growth Fund, said at a ribbon-cutting ceremony Sept. 22. The luxury apartments are to offer amenities such as 9-foot ceilings, "chef-inspired" kitchens, and in-home washers and dryers. Current amenities include coworking spaces, a podcasting studio and an outdoor "reflection court." Once completed, likely next year, the seven-building site is to include a swimming pool with a sun deck and a fitness center with yoga spaces. But rents might strike some as eye-popping. Monthly payments start at $2,299 for a 554-square-foot studio and $4,669 for a 1,269-square-foot three-bedroom, according to a spokesperson. Rent would start at $5,399 for the largest unit, a 1,410-square foot home with three bedrooms and three baths. The rent doesn't cover utilities. Tenants can also expect fees for garage parking, trash removal and other services. The complex
