Kary Essl of Crosby topped a field of more than 5,400 anglers to win the 40th Annual Sealy Outoors Big Bass Splash held April 19-21 on Sam Rayburn. Essl’s 11.30 pounder caught Friday morning earned him a whopper of a pay day including a $300,000 first-place package, plus double the hourly money awarded for the biggest bass weighed 12-1 o’clock T-shirt hour.
