Beautiful weather to start off this week
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) - A long awaited break from the storms and rainshowers is here for us over these next couple days. Most of us are going to see mostly sunny skies with high temperatures in the high 80s and even some of us have the chance to reach 90 degrees with even the higher elevations are getting into the 80s with a high temperature of 80 degrees on Wednesday, unfortunately this will only last until Wednesday. With all the rainfall we have There are a few chances of scattered rain showers on Wednesday as well so, if your area gets hit by a stray shower you most likely will not get up to your forcasted high temperature. On early Thursday morning however, our break is going to end with some scattered rainfall and a few non-severe thunderstorms, this is going to ramp up towards midday however and we will most likely see widespread rainfall and still those non-severe storms. New Shelter Funding System A Boon For Some, Problem For Others
Earlier this year, West Virginia’s mechanism for funding emergency shelters shifted to an application-based system. Homelessness and housing instability is on the rise across the country. In 2019, a federal count of unhoused people in West Virginia showed 1,397 people without adequate shelter on a single night. In 2023, that number had risen to 1416 individuals.

WVU professor named prestigious Fellow of the Royal Society, the ‘Oscar’ of the science world
