Upcoming Estate Sales and Auctions for October 22-25
I got back early Monday morning from another epic adventure with the boys. It’s Fall Break for them and I know I won’t be able to do much fun stuff for a while as show season gets busy, so we have been enjoying the week. We decided to go to St. Louis to Six Flags. I had no idea St. Louis has so much fun stuff! We started out by going to the Elk and Bison Park. We didn’t see any bison, but we got to see a whole herd of elk ladies being lead by their man! It was so fun watching them – the bull would bugle to the ladies who were lollygagging and then go round them up. After Lone Elk Park, we visited the City Museum. That was the coolest museum I’ve ever been to – The structures were built with reclaimed materials like old trees, train axles, an old 2-seater plane, a school bus, etc, and it was all safe to climb in, on, and up. The kids even found holes in the floor and were crawling around in places I couldn’t fit! The City Museum takes place in an old shoe factory. They have display cases of items found while they repurposed the building – I saw everything from Flow Blue dishes, to old doll parts, antique bottles, and so much more. We got a hotel that night and hit the pool the next morning. Then we hit the St. Louis Zoo. Holy moly, that was so cool too! And free! I don’t know how they were able to pull off such an awesome zoo without charging for admission, but we really enjoyed watching the polar bear swim in his enclosure (from above and below the water), walking under the pool of sea lions swimming, and watching an Asian elephant eat bamboo. We hustled through the zoo while we waited for Six Flags to open at noon. The boys were too young 6-7 years ago, the last time we went to Six Flags, so this was a new experience. Caleb (11) is still hesitant to get on roller coasters and Joshua(8) is all for it. Joshua was maybe an inch too short to ride Mr. Freeze and Batman and was so upset. We finally got Caleb on the “Rookie Racer” beginner roller coaster and he loved it. By the end of the night he had found another coaster he liked and rode it over and over. Season passes finishing out this year and going into next year were just $7 extra, so I bought them so we can go back. There’s plenty more to see in St. Louis!
