    Escaped inmate arrested in West Virginia

    UPDATE (10:39 p.m. on June 24, 2024) — West Virginia State Police have released more information on the escaped inmate that was apprehended in Barboursville Monday.

    37-year-old Thomas Price of Floyd County, Kentucky, was first reported in the Barboursville area around 11 a.m. at a hotel off I-64.

    Around 6:45 p.m., Price was reportedly seen around the Big Lots Shopping Plaza. Local law enforcement were able to arrest Price and he is now held in the Western Regional Jail awaiting extradition to Kentucky.


    UPDATE (10:07 p.m. on June 24, 2024) — The Cabell County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that escaped inmate Thomas Price was caught near a liquor store on Route 60 in Barbourville.


    UPDATE (7:45 p.m. on June 24, 2024) — Escaped Kentucky inmate Thomas Price was apprehended Monday evening.

    According to the “City of Prestonsburg, Kentucky Police Department” Facebook page, Price was arrested in West Virginia after police arrested his accomplice. He will be extradited to Kentucky.

    Police reportedly tracked Price using his Facebook Messenger account, through which they learned that he had purchased a prepaid phone, allowing them to track him.


    CABELL COUNTY, WV (WOWK) — An inmate that escaped custody in Kentucky, was reportedly seen in Cabell County.

    According to the “Cabell County 911” and “City of Prestonsburg, Kentucky Police Department” Facebook pages, Thomas Price was last seen in the Barboursville area Monday morning, though it is believed that he has since moved on from the area.

    Price was arrested several months ago after a manhunt. He was receiving medical treatment at Highlands Regional ARH in Kentucky when he escaped custody late Sunday night to early Monday morning.

    He is believed to be in the company of a woman named Cindy Rodriguez, driving a red 2006 Chevrolet Aveo with Kentucky registration K0F709.

    He is considered dangerous and anyone with information on his whereabouts should call 911.
