On Wednesday, May 24, at approximately 1:13 p.m., Sgt. Andre Smoot was dispatched to Dillard Drive for a dispute. Once on scene, all parties were interviewed, and it was determined the victim was slapped in the face by his mother. Parties were separated, pertinent information was gathered, and a report was completed.

On May 26, 1874, former Texas Ranger and Brown County Deputy Sheriff Charles Webb was shot and killed by outlaw John Wesley Hardin outside a saloon in the town of Comanche. Born May 2, 1848, in Harrison County Kentucky, Webb was just 26 years old when he was killed in the line of duty. Brownwood Firefighters Take Swift Water Rescue Training
This week firemen from the Brownwood Fire Department are taking Swift Water Rescue Training. The training is being conducted in a reservoir adjacent to the Water Treatment Plant of the Brown County Water Improvement District. The reservoir contains raw, untreated water from Lake Brownwood, before it enters the treatment plant. When pumps are engaged, the incoming water flow is very fast, simulating the swift water conditions found in fast-flowing streams and flooding situations.

Brownwood Police Officer Collin Davis has received a Lifesaver Award from Chief of Police Ed Kading. Brownwood Police Department Promotes Two Officers
The Brownwood Police Department (BPD) is pleased to announce the promotions of Art Shannon and Paul Chrisman. Shannon has been with the BPD for nearly 27 years and currently serves as patrol sergeant. Shannon has been promoted to the rank of lieutenant and will serve as the commander of the patrol division. Fatal Crash Near Brownwood Leaves One Dead
BROWNWOOD— A fatal two vehicle crash occurred this morning between a passenger car and a truck tractor just outside of Brownwood. According to The Texas Department of Public Safety, at around 4:00 a.m. this morning in Brown County there was a crash between a 2014 Ford Fusion passenger car and a 2023 Freightliner truck towing a semi-trailer. The preliminary investigation revealed that the Ford Fusion was traveling south on Farm to Market Road 2126, about 1.6 miles east of Brownwood, and the Freightliner truck tractor was traveling north on Farm to Market Road 2126.
