Uintah County Animal shelter rising to the challenge: turn Utah into a ‘no-kill’ shelter state
VERNAL, Utah — The Uintah County Animal Shelter is rising to the challenge of turning Utah into a no-kill shelter state. The shelter, located in Vernal, challenged itself to adopt out more animals in April. That resulted in 23 adoptions for the month. Because of this success, the shelter is extending this adoption challenge for another week.
High school baseball: Kanab and Duchesne are victorious in 2A state tournament
This is a recap of the 2A baseball tournament bracket play, with both Kanab and Duchesne coming out victorious. Kanab 1, Beaver 0 A walk-off RBI single by Walker Baird in the bottom of the seventh inning scored Jaxon Riddle from second base and proved to be the only run in the game, giving Kanab a slim 1-0 victory over Beaver in the in the 2A state tournament. Kanab’s Griffen Bone had his best stuff when he was on the mound. Bone had complete control of his pitches all night long and ended up pitching a complete game shutout with six strikeouts and no walks.
Suspect in fatal hit-and-run of Santaquin officer captured in Vernal
SANTAQUIN, Utah (KUTV) — Officers have captured the suspect in the fatal Interstate 15 hit-and-run of a Santaquin police officer that occurred Sunday morning. Lt. Cory Slaymaker with the Spanish Fork Police Department said that this incident began just before 6 a.m. on May 5 when the Utah Highway Patrol’s Richfield office received a 911 call regarding a person who was seen standing on the back of a semi-truck trailer as it was traveling northbound on the freeway.
