Two Louisiana Buc-ee's locations are coming. When do they plan to open?
Buc-ee's , with its beloved beaver mascot and celebrated food items, is opening its first ever locations in Louisiana. The chain of massive travel centers is expanding into other states and will be opening one location in Northeast Louisiana and another in the South Central region of the state. The stores are expected to generate millions in revenue, employ hundreds of workers and welcome thousands of visitors daily. When is the Buc-ee's in Ruston expected to open? Construction crews have begun pouring concrete and laying additional groundwork for the Buc-ee's building in Ruston, which will be located off of Interstate 20 at the Tarbutton road exit. Ruston's Buc-ee's location is projected to open mid 2027, but this could be subject to change depending on construction progress, according to the City of Ruston . Once completed, the location will span more than 70,000 square feet and include more than 100 fuel pumps. "This project continues to move forward step by step, and we’re excited to watch it take shape and share updates along the way as we get closer to opening day," says the City of Ruston website. People tell Entergy they don't want Meta power line on their property
JENA — Rapides High School teacher Danielle LeBouef said her family used every last cent they had to buy a rural property so her three children could grow up safe. Now Entergy wants to run a transmission line through her front yard to power the $50 billion Meta data center being built in Richland Parish, and she has questions. She's not alone, either. On Thursday night, about 100 people gathered at the Jena Community Center to ask questions about the project. It was hosted by the Louisiana Landowners Coalition , a group that started after founder Dustin McAnn spotted surveyors on his property and later learned about the proposed line's route. The Meta project, named Hyperion, would be the company's largest data center. As described on its website , the parent company of Facebook states it "will be part of our global infrastructure that brings Meta technologies and programs to life, making the future of human connection possible. "This data center will play a vital role in accelerating our AI progress, delivering 5 gigawatts of compute capacity to house Hyperion, our largest multi-gigawatt AI cluster." The transmission line, known as the West Fork Creek to Boeuf 500kV transmission project, would

Rapides Parish eateries cited for critical health violations
The Town Talk obtained food safety inspection information for Aug. 30-Sept. 12 from the Louisiana Department of Health. The top addresses with the most critical violations are listed, along with an explanation of the findings. All restaurants on the list had at least two critical violations. According to the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals, uncorrected critical violations are more likely to contribute to food contamination or illness. Less serious violations are not directly related to foodborne illness but could become hazardous if uncorrected. The Louisiana Department of Health's retail food health inspections dashboard includes a history of each establishment's inspection reports. Inspections should be considered a "snapshot" and might not always reflect an establishment's day-to-day operations and overall condition. Violations fall into two main categories: critical and non-critical. Critical violations are more likely to contribute directly to food contamination or illness if left uncorrected. Non-critical violations are not directly related to the cause of foodborne illness but could become critical if left uncorrected. The DHH dashboard is updated daily; however, there is a seven-day delay between when inspections are made and posted online.
