Coroner ID’s woman killed in pedestrian crash on Niles Street

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Kern County Coroner’s Office identified a woman who was killed in a crash on Niles Street on Monday .

Coroner officials say Antoinette Andrea Rodriguez, 30, of Bakersfield was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Niles and Oswell streets on April 22.

Rodriguez was taken to Kern Medical where she was pronounced dead hours later.

According to officials’ preliminary investigation, Rodriguez was walking northbound, across eastbound lanes of Niles Street, outside of a marked crosswalk.

For reasons still under investigation, an eastbound Kia vehicle struck Rodriguez.

The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene. CHP officials said alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash.
