YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — An Austintown man Thursday was indicted by a Mahoning County grand jury for a hit-skip death in March.

James Stehura , 49, faces charges of reckless homicide, failure to stop after an accident and tampering with evidence, all third-degree felonies.

Stehura is presently free on $15,000 bond set at his initial arraignment in Mahoning County Area Court in Austintown.

He is accused of the March 11 death of Linda Adams, 66. Police said Adams was walking with another person on Lancaster Drive near Carlisle Avenue in Austintown when she was struck by a vehicle. Stehura is also accused of leaving the scene. The other person was not hurt.

Investigators later found the truck that hit Adams in Mineral Ridge and traced that truck back to Stehura.

An arrest warrant was issued for Stehura April 2. He turned himself in and was arraigned the next day, which was when his bond was set.
