Tracking the end of rain, warmer temperatures later this week
TONIGHT: Mostly sunny with an isolated shower or storm. Highs in the mid-upper 80s. TOMORROW: Mostly sunny with highs in the upper 80s. EXTENDED: Rain looks to completely move east out of the area by this evening, leaving us dry overnight with gradually decreasing clouds. We have picked up about 3/4" in Columbia so far and just under 1" in Jefferson City. The highest rain amounts have been some isolated pockets in northern Boone, Audrain, and southern Monroe counties, along with a larger swath along and south of I-44. As showers clear out, tomorrow is looking warmer with highs in the mid-80s. We'll see a chance for a few isolated showers and storms by late afternoon/early evening, but widespread rain or flooding concerns aren't expected. The rest of the week is looking quiet as the upper pattern shifts and turns more southwesterly, cranking up the heat and humidity. We get back into the 90s by Friday and stay there through early next week with the heat index approaching 100-105 by Monday and Tuesday.
