A woman reported Tuesday that she woke to a loud noise and found a projectile and bullet hole in her living room, according to a police report. No injuries were reported. At about 4:28 a.m., Denton officers responded to a shots-fired report in the 3500 block of Kingsview Drive in northwest Denton.

Dallas man sentenced for fentanyl death of Frisco 20-year-old
PLANO, Texas — A Dallas man was sentenced to 16 years in federal prison after selling fentanyl-laced pills resulting in the death of a Frisco man, officials said. Benjamin Linder, 23, was sentenced Wednesday for conspiracy to distribute fentanyl resulting in death. Linder, also known as Benzo, admitted to selling drugs that led to the overdose death of a 20-year-old Frisco man, according to a press release from the United States Attorney’s Office Eastern District of Texas.

Copper Canyon selects first police chief
The town of Copper Canyon has selected a police chief to lead its new police department. The Town Council voted last summer to create a police department because the Denton County Sheriff’s Office wasn’t able to provide enough deputies on contract, Mayor Ron Robertson said last year. The town has selected Roger Tighe as its first police chief.
