Sewer System Survey: Pleasant Street (Route 123) in the area of Perry Avenue, and Haggerty Highway
Attention those who live, work, or own businesses on Pleasant Street (Route 123) in the area of Perry Avenue, and Haggerty Highway:. The City’s Wastewater Dept. has contracted with CDM Smith to perform a Sewer System Evaluation Survey. Last year, the Wastewater Dept identified certain locations in the area of Pleasant Street, Perry Ave., and Haggerty Highway as having unusually high sewer flows, and the department is working with CDM Smith to identify why this may be. Increased sewer flows can sometimes be the result of stormwater getting into the sewer system from stormwater catch basins, roof drains, yard drains, and broken sewer pipes. When this happens, it leads to increased treatment and operation costs for the Wastewater Dept., and ultimately increases costs for all property owners who pay to utilize the City’s wastewater system.
