Gerald “Jerry” Kent Zerbel went home to heaven on Tuesday, February 13, 2024. Jerry, 78, of Mellette, South Dakota, was born to Clinton and Nina (McLain) Zerbel in Aberdeen, South Dakota, on March 10, 1945. Jerry grew up on a farm south of Mellette. He attended school at Northville Northwestern and graduated in 1963. After attending the School of Commerce, he enlisted in the United States Air Force.

Chargers Get Doubleheader Sweep over Faulkton Area

Sully Buttes Host Final Doubleheader against Faulkton Area
The Sully Buttes Chargers will be at home for the final time this season as the Faulkton Area Trojans will be in town to close out the season for the girls on senior night. The Chargers will honor the seniors on Thursday with both the boys and girls playing in the final home game of the year as the Charger girls are still hoping to have a home game in the Region Tournament, but will need a win tonight to help make it happen. Sully Buttes, at 10-9, face the 14-5 Trojans who are currently in second in the 6B standings. Faulkton dropped a five point decision to Miller and have lost three of five coming into tonight. Stevie Wittler, Addyson Chicoine and Natlie Miles will be honored tonight as the three Charger seniors.

Tri County Good Samaratin Center Receives Facelift
The Good Samaritan Center has gotten a bit of a facelift. On the outside, new siding, new windows, and a new sign are visible. The new sign was designed by Alissa Toering. Inside, painting has begun. A new door dividing the shop from the back room was put in. Further plans include painting, rearranging, and some general fixing up.
Lady Battlers came within two points of Trojans
The 12-and-4 Faulkton Area Lady Trojans walked into the Big Red House on Tuesday night, February 6th to take on the Battlers in a regularly scheduled 6B Regional matchup. The Trojans had been tearing it up since the season started and they did not suffer a stumble until their sixth game when they lost to the 10-7 Howard Tigers and then again in their nineth game when the 12-3 Aberdeen Roncalli Cavaliers stomped on them. Recovering they put together an impressive five game winning streak, but in their last two games the Lady Trojans got thumped in back-to-back losses to 16-1 Warner Monarchs and 12-4 James Valley Christian Vikings. So, you know they were counting on barreling over the Battlers to get back to winning to improve their standing for the upcoming playoffs.
