Aspen Snowmass, CO, received 11 inches of fresh snow in the past 24 hours, 15 inches over the last 48 hours, and 16 inches over the last week.

Officials at Aspen posted a celebratory tweet to X (twitter) on March 25th, writing, "visibility may be low but the stoke is at an all-time high with a spring storm that dumped 15 inches on our mountains overnight." See below.

Now, before we get into the hard-and-fast data, let's have a ski chat. Officials at Aspen bring up the age-old question of visibility versus snow amount.

Not snow quality, but snow amount.

When there is a storm day, you are almost guaranteed fresh tracks, but at the expense of not being able to see very well. If you have the right lens, you'd better hope you brought your cat crap (the spray, we've all had to ask that question before) and your wipe.

And if you're me, you have been in desperate times and used your mitten to wipe your goggles, ruined your anti-fog for the rest of the day, and been condemned to wear your friend's sunglasses under your helmet in-bounds.

But the real question is: would you take powder over visibility, or visibility over powder? It sounds like those at Aspen would take the former.

For better or for worse, there is more snow (and less visibility) on the way.

Officials at Aspen wrote, "there’s more in the forecast for the rest of this week, so come take advantage of the final days of winter."

Specifically, Aspen will see up to 10 inches in the next 5 days according to OpenSnow.

Remember to bring your powder skis, low light lenses, goggle wipes, and de-fogging spray. Or, just wipe your goggles with your mitten and hope your friend packed extra sunnies.
