Local Saline Residents Tragically Killed in Bienville Parish Accident: Reminder to Wear Seat Belts
Two individuals from Saline, Louisiana, died in a three-vehicle accident in Bienville Parish on February 20, 2024. The victims, 82-year-old Clois Williams and 78-year-old Mary Williams, were driving south on LA Hwy 9 when their 2005 Toyota Tacoma hit a large tree that had fallen across the road. Both were fatally injured.

The (police) jury is still out in regards to Southern Spirit Transmission Line resolution
Although it was not a unanimous vote, the Bienville Parish Police Jury (BPPJ) deferred approving a resolution in support of the Southern Spirit Transmission Line for a second time. Bill Sims (District 1), Jerry Bates (District 4), Vic Fowler (District 5) and Michael Nelson (District 6) were in favor of putting off the resolution with Keith Duck voting “nay” against the deference and Jerry Roberson (District 2) and President Darryl Ryder abstaining.
State Fire Marshal Again Urges Smoke Alarms After Fatal Fire in Jonesboro
JACKSON PARISH- Louisiana State Fire Marshal, Chief Bryan J. Adams, is stressing the life-saving investment of working smoke alarms following a fatal fire in Jonesboro. After an initial investigation, deputies determined the fire began in the attic area of the home. At this time, the cause of this fire remains undetermined with the inability to rule out electrical malfunction. Unfortunately, deputies were unable to locate working smoke alarms in this home.
