Ever wondered who's voting in your county?

Maybe you’ve lived here your whole life, or you just moved to the area this year. Either way, when you head to the polls on Election Day, you are part of the thousands of voters in the area who contribute to the selection of the Tar Heel state’s elected officials.

The Asheville Citizen Times helps cover the issues most pressing to Buncombe and Henderson counties’ readers and voters. Voters in these two counties make up about 4% of the entire registered voting population in the state.

Here’s who is registered to vote in your area with information on race, gender, average age and political affiliation, according to data from the North Carolina State Board of Elections from April 2024.

Buncombe County

There are 208,305 registered voters in this Democrat-dominated county. In the last presidential election, Joe Biden won over Donald Trump by about 21%.

The average age in this county is 53.

Henderson County:

Henderson voted opposite to Buncombe in 2020 with Trump securing the county with about 59% of the vote. There are 89,405 registered voters here and the average age is 58.
