Paris Police Report For Wednesday, July 24
Paris Officers met with a victim on Tuesday in the 2500 block of Bonham St. The victim said a white male named “Billy” had assaulted him. While en route to the incident, a Lamar County Deputy made contact with Billy Wayne Gray, 46, in the 2100 block of Bonham St. Paris Police officers arrived and took control of the identified suspect, Gray. The victim said he had been at the park all day and that Gray had also been there. The victim said their only contact was when Gray asked for a cigarette. The victim did not have one. Later, the victim had fallen asleep on a park bench at about 9:00 pm and had awakened to Gray, striking him in his head and mouth with his fist and telling him he would kill him. Gray also took the victim’s cane, which he used to strike the victim in the back and head. The victim escaped from Gray and got into his vehicle, where he called the police. The victim had multiple visible injuries, including tooth loss. Gray had marks on his hands indicative of assaulting someone. Police took Gray into custody and charged him with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, a Felony. They booked him without incident.
Paris Police Report For Thursday, July 25
Wednesday night at 10:42, Paris Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 200 block of Lamar Avenue for traffic violations and smelled a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. The passenger, Jataurius Keshaun Council, 24, consented to search his person. Officers found a baggie containing a usable amount of cocaine in his pocket. As the Officer reached for his handcuffs, Council ran. The Officer caught Council and led Council to being arrested and booked with Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance-cocaine, Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance-THC wax, Resisting Arrest/Search/Transport, and Evading Arrest/Detention. Police released the driver of the vehicle.
Gonzalez pleads guilty to murder
Michael Aratino Gonzalez appeared in Love County District Court before Judge Wallace Coppedge on Tuesday, July 23 for formal arraignment. In January, Gonzalez first appeared in court where he was charged with felony counts of first degree murder-deliberate intent, possession of a stolen vehicle, and pattern of criminal offenses. Bond was denied and Gonzalez has remained in the custody of the Love County Justice Center.
