Riverside and oranges have a long and close relationship. In 1871, only one year after Riverside was founded, L. C. Waite bought four orange seedlings in Los Angeles and brought them to Riverside. K. D. Shugart planted the first one near his home at Mulberry and Ninth Streets. Two years later, in 1873, Eliza Tibbets planted the two original parent navel orange trees in her yard. A family of four from the Inland Empire has been arrested for a string of retail thefts spanning across Southern California in recent weeks. Advisory: Suspects Identified and Arrested for the Assault of Two Teenagers Near a Local Park
According to a news release, on Friday, May 3, 2024, Yucaipa Station deputies were dispatched to a local gas station where a victim was located with multiple lacerations and a stab wound from a knife. Victim No.1 was transported to a local area hospital by AMR for additional treatment. A short time later, deputies learned a second victim was at a local area hospital with multiple stab wounds. Both minor teenage victims were treated at a local hospital for their serious injuries and later released.

A Silver Alert issued by the California Highway Patrol was called off Sunday night. The agency initially reported a 69-year-old woman was last seen Sunday around 11:00 a.m. in Coachella. But by late Sunday night, it announced the missing woman had been located. There was no word on her condition.
