WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A man who had an outstanding warrant for kidnapping in Seward County was arrested in Arkansas City.

A news release from the Arkansas City Police Department says on March 18, around 4:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of A Street and Cedar Avenue for a report of a white vehicle speeding on residential roads.

Officers found people driving a similar car, but they were not the ones speeding. While speaking with them, another vehicle matching the description sped through the intersection of Vine Avenue and C Street, almost hitting a truck making a left turn.

The news release says the officers performed a traffic stop and, while talking with the driver, noticed the odor of alcohol.

The driver, an Arkansas City resident, declined a field sobriety test and was arrested. He was transported to the ACPD for the sobriety test and was later taken to the Cowley County Jail.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of several charges, including driving under the influence, reckless driving, driving with a revoked license, habitual violator status, transporting an open container, and lack of proof of insurance.

He also has an outstanding $500,000 warrant from Seward County for kidnapping.

His bond is set at $508,900, according to the news release.
