Dallas is a hot spot for big restaurant openings: Delilah and its $29 chicken strips, AVRA, and even Prince Street Pizza, to name a few. These are all met with lots of social media videos and big-rock-star energy. But few of them give out free food for two hours on opening night.

This Texas Diner Is Loaded With Homestyle Favorites And Locals Hope It Stays Under The Radar
A packed parking lot before 8 AM usually tells you everything you need to know. Mama’s Daughters’ Diner has that kind of early-morning pull. Inside, the smell of fresh biscuits and sizzling bacon takes over fast. The room hums with regulars who know exactly what they are ordering, and the staff moves with the steady confidence that only comes from decades of doing this well.

Now that The Bread Club is officially open, here’s a scouting report.
A little birdie whispered in my ear that The Bread Club was having a soft opening last week, so I popped in for a box of pastries. The bakery comes from the same crew as Michelin-starred Mamani, and if you’ve had Mamani’s desserts, you’ll have high expectations. The Bread Club fulfills them. I just want to highlight, here, any laminated pastry, croissants and Danishes especially. The layers are so distinct, so beautifully formed, that the word “fluffy” comes to mind. It also doesn’t taste like you’re chewing on a stick of butter. There are richer pastries out there; these are delicate instead. So you can eat three or four of them.

Shorty’s Coneys & Cocktails Brings Vintage Vibes To Downtown McKinney
In a building that has stood on the McKinney square since 1875 — the first non-wood structure in the district — a new tenant is preparing to blend a century of history with a modern twist. Shorty’s Coney’s & Cocktails is set to open its doors on March 16th, promising an experience that bridges the gap between a family-friendly lunch spot and a sophisticated late-night haunt. For owner Bryan McVay, Shorty’s isn’t just a business venture; it’s a full-circle moment forty years in the making. As he puts it: "If somehow I could turn into a restaurant, it would be Shorty’s." From Pennsylvania To The Plaza McVay’s journey began at age 15, working in a 75-year-old hot dog shop near Pittsburgh. While his career eventually led him into restaurant accounting and executive roles for giants like Hard Rock Cafe and House of Blues, the itch to create his own brand never faded. Fifteen years ago, a job with Front Burner Restaurants brought him to Texas. It was during a COVID-era walk through downtown McKinney with his wife that the vision for Shorty's finally crystallized. Standing in front of a vacant building, which previously housed Snug On The Square, McVay realized
