Nearly 30 Years Later, Sister Hazel and Frontman Drew Copeland Are Still ‘All for You’
Almost three decades since the hit that defined a generation, Sister Hazel’s Drew Copeland shares the unlikely formula that has kept the band together. It was a typical night on Tallahassee’s infamous West Tennessee Street in 1997 when the line outside Floyd’s Music Store stretched farther than the members of Sister Hazel could believe. The Gainesville band did what came naturally: They ordered a stack of pizzas, walked down the sidewalk and started handing out slices to fans waiting for the doors to open.

Blueprint rethinks Airport Gateway after state email throws project into doubt
The Blueprint Intergovernmental Agency Board may be reconsidering the scope of its Airport Gateway Project that has long promised to beautify and otherwise improve the main drive from Tallahassee's airport to the city's downtown. For three years , County Commissioner Christian Caban has pushed back on the project, citing ballooning costs and better uses of taxpayer dollars, but a new curveball he threw at the board during its Sept. 24 meeting could bring his goals to fruition. The board's 12 members unanimously voted to review the project and how to possibly reprioritize some of the project's funds after Caban presented a copy of an email from the state's Office of Cabinet Affairs that said there are "no plans to bring this project to the governor and cabinet," which would be a necessary step to acquire the state-owned land for a segment of the project. "I've heard over and over in this meeting that there was funding in the five-year work program for portions of the Airport Gateway," Caban said during the meeting. "This is a letter from the Office of Cabinet Affairs saying that there's no funding in the five-year work program." The letter, which was provided to the Tallahassee

1876 Bar and Grille temporarily closed for a refresh, exec says
1876 Bar & Grille, a gastropub-style restaurant and bar inside a hotel on Capital Circle Northeast, is temporarily closed. The restaurant is listed as "permanently closed" on Google, while its Facebook page has been inactive since June, but in an email exchange Edgewater Group marketing executive Madison Lagrou cleared things up. "Our Alluxsuites at 1876 property recently transitioned from Choice Hotels’ Ascend Hotel Collection to Choice Hotels' MainStay Suites brand. As part of this transition, we are refreshing and redesigning the restaurant menu, with plans to reopen at the start of next year," she said. In March 2025, AlluxSuites at 1876 debuted in the state capital as a new extended stay boutique hotel for the Tallahassee market. That November, the brand elevated its offerings with the addition of a restaurant that offered that neighborhood feel right on Capital Circle. In its eight months of operation, the gastropub offered a cozy, casual setting with an outdoor patio that featured high-top tables, cushioned seating by the fire pits, televisions and live music. The menu offered flexibility, providing a taste of what "Tallahassee likes and expects" in an upscale presentation. "What'll make the restaurant successful is if the public adopts it," Edgewater Group
