Tallahassee Starbucks closes amid nationwide store closures
Java lovers, don't lose your beans. Hate to break the news, but the Starbucks location on 2308 Apalachee Parkway has closed for good. Its final day of operation was Sept. 26. True "Starbies" lovers were notified in the app when they went to order their daily fix; others found a letter on the door. "We've made the very difficult decision to close this Starbucks location by the end of this week. We know this may be hard to hear — because this isn't just any store. It's your coffeehouse, a place woven into your daily rhythm, where memories were made and meaningful connections with our partners grew," the letter said. "We're deeply grateful for these moments, and for the community that's been built here." The Apalachee Parkway storefront closure comes amid the company’s Sept. 24 announcement that it plans to close about 250 locations across North America. As USA TODAY reported, in a public letter, Starbucks Chief Operating Officer Mike Grams said the coffee chain closes locations each year, and this week's closures represent about 1% of Starbucks' more than 18,000 North American coffee shops. Despite having more than a dozen Starbucks locations across Tallahassee, those losing their neighborhood shop

Another Tallahassee Wendy's closes its doors amid national closures
The fast-food joint known for its “fresh, never frozen” square burgers, chili, Frosty desserts and more has been closing locations across the country. Now, Tallahassee is saying goodbye to another storefront as the Wendy’s at 2525 S. Monroe St. officially closed its doors for good on Sept. 25. It's the one located in front of the Town South shopping center, not too far north of Orange Avenue and across the Piggly Wiggly. When placing an order online, a pop-up notification states, "Sorry, unfortunately, this location has closed. Fortunately, you can choose another location and get the same delicious food." Pictures of a letter taped to the storefront's door reading "Permanently Closed" have also circulated online. The sudden shuttering of Wendy's locations, outside of the South Monroe location, most recently includes the Bradfordville location on 3451 Bannerman Road. In late 2025, the Wendy's on Ocala and Pensacola Street, directly across from the WestEnd Square shopping center, closed. The Wendy’s at 2122 Capital Circle NE also closed. Each closure was in line with the company's strategy to close "underperforming units." According to a transcript reported by Investing.com , Wendy's interim CEO and chief financial officer, Ken Cook, announced in an earnings call

Fried chicken chain Bojangles closes remaining Tallahassee stores
Once again, the Southern, chicken-frying, butter-loving restaurant known for its dirty rice and Cajun pinto beans has left Florida's state capital. Both Bojangles locations, one on Park Avenue and the other on North Monroe, have been listed as "permanently closed" and removed from the company's site. The nearest location now sits 66 miles away in Valdosta, Georgia. In August, Mediterranean eatery Authentic Gyros & Grill took over the chain's West Tennessee Street location. The site had been vacant since the fast-food chain closed there around 2022. The Charlotte, North Carolina-based chain was beloved for its buttermilk biscuits perfectly paired with its crunchy, Cajun-spiced chicken and sweet tea to wash it all down. The chicken chain has over 800 restaurants across 17 states. Florida now has 14 storefronts left in operation. News of the closure circulated in the social group Tallahassee Restaurant Reviews. One person said, "I loved Bojangles on Monroe. The staff was the reason I loved going there. Treated us so nice! I’m going to miss that." Another Facebook user said, "Oh no I get breakfast at the Park location occasionally. We liked them vs. KFC and Popeyes chicken. This city can’t keep anything." Kyla A Sanford covers dining
