ARCADIA — Turner Agri-Civic Center will be the site for an event assisting people who need diabetic foot care.

The event takes place 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, May 4, focusing on providing “free diabetic footwear” to DeSoto County residents who have been diagnosed with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes, according to a news release.

It is an event set up between MCR Health and the Florida Podiatric Medical Association

“Living with diabetes presents numerous challenges, among them the heightened importance of foot care,” the news release states. “Recognizing the critical need for proper diabetic foot care, MCR Health and the Florida Podiatric Medical Society have joined forces to address this issue head-on.”

For free footwear, people must fill out the application at www.surveymonkey.com/r/DiabeticShoes

“The event underscores the commitment of MCR Health and the Florida Podiatric Medical Society to serving the community and improving the lives of individuals affected by diabetes,” the news release stated. “By providing free diabetic footwear, they aim to empower individuals to take proactive steps toward managing their condition and ensuring their long-term health and well-being.”

The Turner Agri-Civic Center is at 2250 NE Roan St. in Arcadia.
