ARAB, Ala. (WHNT) – Two men were arrested after the man they are accused of kidnapping texted 911 while handcuffed, according to the Arab Police Department.

Around 5:40 Saturday evening, Morgan County 911 told Arab police that they had received a text message saying a man had been kidnapped from his home in Decatur and taken to a home on 2nd Street in Arab.

When officers arrived, they found the victim, who was still handcuffed, sitting in the living room. The police department said the officers also found two other men in the home.

They were identified as 21-year-old Jessie Ryan Fain Jr. and 18-year-old Clayton Ty Calahan, and arrested.

According to APD, the victim told officers that Fain and Calahan said they were going to take him to his girlfriend’s house so they could “work their relationship out.” He added that one of the suspects had a gun on him, but didn’t threaten him. The weapon turned out to be an air pistol.

He said that Fain and Calahan told him they would handcuff him because “they didn’t want him to try to attack them as they were taking him to his girlfriend.

When they arrived in Arab, the victim realized they were going in the opposite direction of his girlfriend’s house. APD told News 19 that is when the victim was able to get his phone out of his pocket and text 911.

Fain and Calahan are both charged with second-degree kidnapping, and each is being held at the Marshall County Jail on a bond of $15,000.
