Anniston, AL – Excitement is building as the Anniston Library gears up to host a spectacular event to witness the partial solar eclipse on April 8, 2024. In anticipation of this celestial phenomenon, the library is offering an opportunity for the community to safely view the eclipse with solar eclipse viewing glasses available for purchase at the Main Circulation Desk for just $2.00 a pair.

While Alabama will only witness a partial eclipse of the Sun, the experience promises to be nothing short of awe-inspiring. With the most coverage of the Sun’s disk by the Moon occurring in the northwestern corner of the state at approximately 93%, and the least amount at Dothan at 79.5%, attendees are in for a captivating celestial display.

The partial solar eclipse is set to commence on Monday, April 8, at 12:40 PM, with the peak expected around 1:59 PM. As the Moon gradually obscures a portion of the Sun, spectators will have the opportunity to marvel at this rare cosmic event.

The Anniston Library event offers a unique chance for families, students, and astronomy enthusiasts alike to come together and witness the wonders of the universe in a safe and educational environment. Whether you’re a seasoned stargazer or experiencing a solar eclipse for the first time, this event promises an unforgettable experience for all.
