UPDATES ON PUNXSY BOROUGH ONGOING PROJECTS
The Punxsutawney borough engineer provided updates on ongoing projects to the Borough Council. The Punxsutawney Spirit reports Zak Sansom briefed members on various projects, including sewer maintenance and ongoing construction on Dinsmore Avenue and Brick Alley. The sinkhole on North Findley Street has been stabilized temporarily, with final work pending in spring.

Court records show the Punxsutawney Borough Police Department filed criminal charges against 28-year-old Justin T. Kolash, of Brockway, on February 15, in Magisterial District Judge Jacqueline J. Mizerock’s office.

A man was rescued by Punxsutawney first responders after falling off a cliff near the old trestle by Route 119. Today’s Punxsutawney Spirit says Punxsy Fire Rescue, prompted by Jefferson County 911, conducted a confined space rescue. The victim fell near Elk Street, close to the skatepark, landing about 30 feet below near the trestle supports.

Indiana Regional Medical Center is seeking people to help them with a survey of the health-related needs of the community. IRMC is asking people in both Indiana and Jefferson Counties to take the Community Health Needs Assessment. The survey takes only a few minutes to complete and will collect information from participants regarding what they feel are the health needs of the community, in addition to looking at secondary data that is available.
