HENRY COUNTY, Ind. — A Madison County woman has been charged with a felony after police were called to a Henry County park for a person armed with a machete threatening juveniles.

Jewelle A. Crawford, a 55-year-old Anderson woman, was arrested last week and charged with felony intimidation with a deadly weapon and disorderly conduct after parkgoers reported a disturbance.

Deputies with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office were called around 8 p.m. Friday to Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park in reference to an “irate” female armed with a machete and standing behind the ranger station.

Upon arrival, HCSO said deputies found that the woman had “calmed down” and was no longer carrying the machete. They later identified the woman as Crawford.

While speaking with witnesses, one person said that Crawford had made threats against other campers. She also reportedly made a “stabbing gesture” toward a nearby juvenile.

Given witness statements, Crawford was arrested by deputies and later booked into the Henry County Jail.

Online court records have not yet been updated to reflect an initial hearing in Crawford’s case. No other information was immediately provided by HCSO.
