Amsterdam chooses new food vendor for golf course

AMSTERDAM, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — The Amsterdam Municipal Golf Course is getting a new concessionaire this season. Megabites Events and Catering was chosen as the new vendor at an Amsterdam Common Council meeting.

Owner Megan Podrazik said Megabites will be in two places at the golf course: a food trailer by the old pro shop and at the enclosed pavilion. Podrazik said Megabites the second food trailer for the gold course will be paid for by the city.

The food trailer will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner when requested, said Podrazik, as she plans to have Megabites open as much as possible during golf season. Megabites will be catering specialty events and services out of the pavilion, which includes a full bar setup. Both places will be serving a full menu.

“There’s no set menu,” said Podrazik. “We like to specialize in gluten-free and dietary restrictions. We want to know what the golfers want and that’s what we’re going to provide.”

The city of Amsterdam sent out a request for proposals in December looking for a food and beverage vendor for the golf course. Podrazik said was curious about the concessionaire position and spoke to Amsterdam Mayor Michael Cinquanti about what the needs of the golf course were.

Podrazik was the concessionaire of a country club years ago, she said. She also leases The Bridge Walk in Perth, which is mainly used as a wedding venue, and caters all of the events there.

Megabites at the Amsterdam Municipal Golf Course does not have a set opening date yet, said Podrazik. She said she will start setting up there next week and meet with people who have already booked events or golf tournaments.

“I’m really excited for this opportunity,” said Podrazik. “We want to bring something new and fresh to Amsterdam Muni Golf Course.”
