AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Better Business Bureau is set to host its “Secure Your ID Day” on Saturday in Amarillo with officials noting that the public will have the opportunity to shred documents to help protect their identity.

Officials detailed that the day will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday at the Med Center parking lot, located at 3501 Soncy Road where the public can bring four bags or boxes of personal documents for shredding. Shredding will run until 1 p.m., however, officials noted that once the truck is full, shredding will end.

BBB suggested to the community that attendees bring documents that contain personal information including bank or credit card account numbers, social security numbers, and driver’s license numbers.

“If personally identifiable information such as account numbers, social security numbers, etc., gets thrown away without shredding, the information can be stolen and used to create a fake identity at your expense,” said Janna Kiehl, BBB President.

The day will also include a drive-thru for fast service with BBB asking the community to stay in their car to “help protect your safety and the safety of our workers.”
